| Landscape Horticulture Students at CENTS 01/09/2015Six Landscape Horticulture juniors and seniors traveled to Columbus last Wed and Thursday for the annual CENTS Show, a tradeshow for landscape professionals. There they competed in a landscape build project against 5 other career and technical schools. Senior Team Captain: Brian Schultz; seniors Alen Strmac, Emilio Botello, Garrett Layne, and juniors Robert Zeigler and Mark Christopherson placed 4th for their landscape project. Exscape Design supervisor Mike Morgan lead the team throughout the build, giving direction and advice. All teams were given the same blue print and materials but they also all had the ability to be creative.
While at the CENTS show, Auburn Career Center students were also recognized with a Merit award for their participation, along with their business partner the Pattie Group, in the Cleveland Home and Garden show with their Japan Garden. Dave Richards, now the past president of ONLA (Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association), helped to run the weeklong event and handed over his leadership to the new ONLA President, Michael Dues. Students also attended the Keynote address given by Janine Driver, a nationally recognized body language expert who gave advice on how to approach customers and how to present themselves to customers.
